... Nie widzę również potrzeby (chociaż wielu Czytelników, a także kilku wydawców proponuje mi to) pisania o dalszym locie malarstwa, po roku 1870. Frunęło cudownie, od Impresjonistów do późnego Picassa i Magritte'a, a następnie zdechło. Dzisiejsze malarstwo budzi we mnie warknięcie, które Anglosasi ujmują czterema literami: "shit". Z tym malarstwem kojarzy mi się rewelacja naukowa tycząca prędkości. W lipcu 2000 fizycy Uniwersytetu Princeton zmusili wiązkę laserową do przekroczenia prędkości światła....
Potrzebujemy prawdziwej sztuki, a nie patologii udającej sztukę. Potrzebujemy sztuki tak wspaniałej, jak malarstwo dawnych białych mistrzów.
